Our School Library
I’m a school teacher in St Petersburg. One of the places I like to visit in my school is the library. I can spend a lot of time here. In my school the library is big and modern. Pupils can walk around and choose a book to read. There are quiet places where they can enjoy reading a book or a children’s magazine. They can also borrow books from the library for two weeks and take them home. If the young readers have problems, there is always a friendly librarian who is ready to help.
Today librarians have to be information specialists and libraries are real information centres with new IT equipment. Our pupils are able to find the information they want not only on the bookshelves but also on the Internet. Our school library has a good collection of books by Russian and foreign writers. There are books which help the pupils to learn their school subjects and books which they choose just for the fun of reading. Our school library is a cosy and friendly place. I feel at home there and often leave it with a new book I have borrowed.
